About our trees
What size Christmas trees do you sell?
Cut trees from 5ft to 8ft cover most homes, and those are our most popular sizes. Pot grown trees run about 2ft to 3ft. We can supply trees up to 60ft through our installation service. See our Christmas tree size guide if you are not sure what you need.
How are your trees measured?
From the base of the trunk to the leader, which is the vertical shoot at the very top where the star sits. We do not include the stand or the topper, so allow a few extra inches. Pot grown trees are measured from the bottom of the pot.
Which tree should I buy?
The Nordmann Fir if you want to put your tree up early and not hoover needles. It holds four to five weeks. The Norway Spruce if the smell of pine is what Christmas means to you, and you are happy to put it up a bit later. Full comparison in our guide to the types of real Christmas tree.
Which tree drops the fewest needles?
The Nordmann Fir. Its needles are waxy and hold their moisture. Cut the trunk, keep it watered, and it will hold. See our guide to stopping needle drop.
When can I buy a tree?
You can pre-order from September. Delivery runs from 17 November to 22 December. We can also supply trees out of season, at extra cost. Contact us for a quote.
When should I have my tree delivered?
If you want it up early, take a Nordmann Fir, which holds its needles far longer. If you want a Norway Spruce, take delivery in mid December so it peaks on Christmas Day. More in our guide on when to put your tree up.
Delivery
How much is delivery?
Free, anywhere on the UK mainland. No minimum order and no postcode surcharge.
How are your Christmas trees delivered?
Each tree is netted, then placed inside a heavy-duty tree carrier designed to protect it in transit. A strong cane goes in the bag alongside it to hold the shape. The tree comes out looking like it did in the field.
What courier do you use?
DX, who specialise in the delivery of large goods. Smaller items and accessories may come via DPD.
When will my order arrive?
On the delivery date you choose, between 8am and 6pm. You do not need to wait in. The courier will leave your tree in a safe place.
We will be straight with you. DX are good, but like any national carrier they have off days, so we cannot guarantee a date will never slip. If it does, tell us and we will sort it.
Can I change my delivery date?
Yes. Contact us at least three working days before the original delivery date.
Will you put the tree up when you deliver it?
Not on a standard delivery. We do run a Christmas tree installation and decoration service, used mostly by businesses, starting from around £500.
Returns and problems
What if my tree arrives damaged?
Contact us and we will replace it free of charge.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, if you cancel at least three working days before your tree is due for delivery.
Once a tree has been delivered we cannot refund it. Christmas trees are perishable and we cut yours to order, so there is no putting it back. That is the honest position.
After Christmas
Will you collect our tree after Christmas?
We offer a collection and recycling service, which you can add at checkout.
Before you buy it, check your council. Many collect trees free in January. Some charities collect for a donation, which is a good way to support a hospice. We would rather tell you that than sell you something you can get for nothing. See our Christmas tree recycling guide.
Looking after your tree
How do I stop my tree dropping needles?
Saw an inch off the bottom of the trunk before it goes in the stand. Sap seals the cut end within hours of harvest, and without a fresh cut the tree cannot drink at all, no matter how full the reservoir is.
Then check the water every single day and keep the tree away from radiators. That is the whole job. More in our guide to keeping your tree fresh.
Should I put anything in the water?
No. Plain tap water. Sugar, aspirin and lemonade do not help and can clog the trunk.
How long will my tree last?
A watered Nordmann Fir holds four to five weeks. A Norway Spruce about three. Both do far worse next to a radiator.
