Christmas Lights Switch On

The Christmas Lights switch on show is usually held in Albert Square around early to mid November, however due to the Town Hall transformation project, in recent years the switch on has taken place on Deansgate close to the Cathedral.

Notable people who have switched on the lights in the past include comedian Jason Manford, singer and song writer Jonas Blue, and local stars from the X Factor and Coronation Street

Christmas Tree Collection

Manchester City Council will usually collect your Christmas tree for free and will even recycle it for you. Simply leave your tree next to your green bin on any of your green bin collection days in January. Make sure to remove the base and any lights or decorations from the tree.

Alternatively you can take your tree to your local tip or household waste recycling centre.
